Pause

What a wild ride.

The seed that started this adventure was love and hope. Jimmy and I in our kitchen, doing something we loved: creating together and beer. What grew from that was Rockabilly Brewing. Our end-goal was to create something that could do some good in the community and something we could do together as a family. We wanted to create a very special space that was versatile and inviting to everyone in the community, the space we sought when we moved up here. We wanted to create beer that was unique, like we did at home, and share that with everyone. We both have been in the industry in one capacity or another for over 25 years (I know…that really ages us…) so this didn’t start with the idea that it would ever be easy or immediately successful.

When we found the CR 137 property, we fell in love. It was exactly what we saw in our dreams, with so much potential for what we wanted to create. We knew there’d be challenges, like parking, but there ended up being so many more that didn’t meet the eye. Many of you saw what we started with and still stuck around! We really wanted to make you proud, and we really tried to make something work with staying at this location.

That property was so special, not just to us but to so many of you. We even held a wedding! And I still get teary thinking about each of you that shared your stories of finding a home with us, the constant “Hutto needed a place like this!” and “What you guys are doing here is amazing.” And my favorite, “This place just felt familiar…like home.” We didn’t take that lightly.

Third spaces are so important for communities, and my goal was to eventually create a charitable arm where we could not only be a space to gather but a space to help. We had already started sponsoring students with their extracurriculars and hosting events to raise money for various local causes. It was so important to me to be able to do those things and I really wanted to be able to do so on a grander scale eventually.

We’ve really had the odds against us since we first started, as many of you know. If it hadn’t been for Texas Beer Co., we wouldn’t have had our own recipe for you to try. If it hadn’t been for 3rd Level, we wouldn’t have been able to keep some of our own on tap regularly. Slackers also came through with the support and advice any way they could. The local brewing industry has been so amazing and supportive, but these guys especially. So please make sure you go and show them all the love! They are wonderful people, as many of you already know.

And we wouldn’t have even made it this far if we hadn’t found Sonya and Eli Alborn. Eli came in with his knowledge and expertise and really propelled us forward. He was able to be a presence when we couldn’t be, and was able to help me organize things better. We are so grateful to him for all the work he put into making the space what it ended up being. And to all the amazing staff we've had along the way, from when we were just a trailer all the way to the remodel. Leah and JJ-Ron (who's burgers I will miss greatly) were the GOATS and we know they're why many of you braved the terrain like you did.

Not just them, but all of you, too!! Our regulars, our customers who came out to support us through all of our random events, and meets, etc. Who braved the parking, and braved the weather at times, and still came out to show us love. Hutto really came out and showed us what kind of community we came into. I will never be able to find the words to thank all of you, and I feel so truly blessed that we were able to meet all of you. Many of you have become friends outside of the business.

Now the update you’ve been reading to find

We are currently working on relocating, but we don’t have a spot yet. We would’ve liked to send off 1133 CR 137 with a bang, and let everyone know so they could come out and celebrate with us, but unfortunately, sometimes things happen fast and not how we’d like them too. But we haven’t given up, and we hope you won’t either.

It’s hard to put a dream on pause. Especially when you don’t know what the future looks like. But I hope each of you reading this remembers that you had a place in making someone’s dream a reality. When you came in and bought a beer, whether it was ours or not, you contributed to keeping the dream alive. Even those of you who came once and didn’t care for the space, you still pushed that dream forward another day for us — and we appreciate the opportunity to have served you.

So stay tuned! It may not look exactly the same, but if we can make a comeback, you better believe Rockabilly will crawl and scratch her way to the surface like she did before.

Thank you <3
